APPLYING MULTIVARIATE GEOSTATISTICS FOR TRANSIT RIDERSHIP MODELING AT THE BUS STOP LEVEL

چکیده

Travel demand models have been developed and refined over the years to consider a characteristic normally found in travel data: spatial autocorrelation. Another important feature of data is its multivariate nature. However, regarding public transportation demand, there lack that scarce nature data, which generally are expensive collect, also need an appropriate level detail. Thus, main aim this study was estimate Boarding variable along bus line from city São Paulo - Brazil, by means geostatistical modeling at stop level. As specific objectives, comparative analysis conducted applying Universal Kriging, Ordinary Kriging Least Squares Regression for same proposed. From goodness-of-fit measures, results indicated Geostatistics competitive tool comparing classical modeling, emphasizing interpolator Kriging. Therefore, three contributions can be highlighted: (1) methodological advance using approach, level, on modeling; (2) benefits provided land use network planning; (3) resource savings field surveys collecting data.

Assessment of Models to Estimate Bus-Stop Level Transit Ridership using Spatial Modeling Methods

The objective of this research is to develop and assess bus transit ridership models at a bus-stop level using two spatial modeling methods: spatial proximity method (SPM) and spatial weight method (SWM). Data for the Charlotte (North Carolina) area are used to illustrate 1) the working of the methods and 2) development and assessment of the models. Features available in Geographic Information ...

Examining the influence of stop level infrastructure and built environment on bus ridership in Montreal

We studied transit ridership from the perspective of the transit provider, with the objective of quantifying the influence of transit system operational attributes, transportation system infrastructure attributes and built environment attributes on the disaggregate stop level boardings and alightings by time of day for the bus transit system in the Montreal region. A Composite Marginal Likeliho...

Transit Assignment Model Based on Bus Stop

A public transit network differs from a general road network. The passenger flow of bus stops and the limited capacity of buses have a greater effect than road traffic flow on the running time of buses. As a result, conventional public transit assignment models that adopt the econometric road network path concept have numerous limitations. Based on the analysis, the generalized bus trip time ch...

Exploring Comparative Ridership Drivers of Bus Rapid Transit and Light Rail Transit Routes

A major research gap is the relative ridership performance of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), and streetcar (SC). This paper assesses ridership influences of 101 routes in Australia, Europe, and North America using multiple regression examining the influence of transit mode, vehicle capacity, service level, employment/residential density, car ownership, speed, stop spacing, r...
